I’ve always loved the fact that you can’t scratch the back of your foot easily. If we had fingers on our heels, we could never sleep on our backs. That’s nature’s way of thinking in systems balancing a small convenience against a vital necessity.

I bring that same perspective to design. I’m not interested in just adding features or making things look cool. I’m obsessed with how the parts affect the whole.

• traveling
